RAISE THE BAR’s TRIATHLON TEAM

Through the cash donations of Kraft’s Fig Newtons and Cole & Weber United Marketing Firm, and generosity of Speedy Reedy, Raise the Bar was very excited to offer a new program in 2007 called “Carpe Velo” or “Seize the Bike”.
A triathlete’s bike is their most expensive and most complicated purchase, and after a year or two in the sport, they’d often like to try out a bike with aerobars, also called a “Time Trial” bike. These bikes are difficult to get used to, and to make a wise purchase choice, it’s a benefit to be able to ride that bike a few times before purchasing one.
This program made Time Trial bikes available to team members for an inexpensive weekly rental fee of $15. Members could reserve a bike for a particular week to try it out or, with experience, could race one. Our fleet was made up of Cervelo Duals and Felt S22’s and S32’s.
At the end of the 2007 season, the bikes were auctioned off to team members to benefit the Domestic Women’s Abuse Network and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
This program will expand and repeat in 2008 and is a valuable team benefit.
